Design of High Efficiency Class E Power Amplifiers

چکیده
This paper presents a new procedure to design of high efficiency class E power amplifiers (PAs) using nonlinear transistors. The active device (MESFET-ATF34143) has been investigated and load harmonic networks have also been designed to match the requirement. By using the new procedure, the power added efficiency (PAE) of PAs could be increased to over 70%. The effect of the stabilized resistors (Rs) has also been investigated. Amplifiers in this paper have been designed using PCB FR4 subtract. A good agreement was obtained between the predicted and practical results.

Class of High-Efficiency Tuned Switching Power Amplifiers
The previous literature on tuned power amplifiers has not made clear the fundamental differences between amplifiers in which the output device acts 1) as a current source, or 2) as a switch. Previous circuits have often operated in contradiction to their design assumptions, resulting in the need for “cut-and-try” design. The new class of amplifiers deseribed here is based on a load network synt...

متن کاملDual Band High Efficiency Power Amplifier Based on CRLH Lines
In this paper we propose the use of Composite Right/Left Hand (CRLH) and Extended Composite Right/Left Hand (ECRLH) transmission lines for the design of dual band high efficiency power amplifiers working in CE class. The harmonic termination can be synthesized using the meta-lines is particularly suitable for CE class amplifiers, which have a termination not as sensitive to the third harmonic a...
متن کاملDesign of Input Matching Networks for Class-E RF Power Amplifiers
Class-E power amplifiers have high efficiency, which makes them attractive in modern wireless mobile communication systems. There are several techniques and approaches developed solely to design the output load networks of such amplifiers to shape the RF power device’s output voltage and current for minimum power loss. However, little attention is brought to the design of the input matching net...
متن کاملClass-e High-efficiency Rf/microwave Power Amplifiers: Principles of Operation, Design Procedures, and Experimental Verification
Class-E power amplifiers [1]-[6] achieve significantly higher efficiency than for conventional Class-B or -C. Class E operates the transistor as an on/off switch and shapes the voltage and current waveforms to prevent simultaneous high voltage and high current in the transistor; that minimizes the power dissipation, especially during the switching transitions. In the published low-order Class-E...
